Glazing Options
Bildau & Bussmann windows and doors are custom made for your project needs. We are able to work with energy modeling consultants and adjust our glazing options to match the required performance levels. When quoting your project, we engineer each window depending on its location, desired performance, lamination, and color. Saint-Gobain is the base of our window and door specification; however, we can source glazing from other manufacturers upon request.
All our units can be double or triple glazed, and can be filled with the noble gases Argon or Krypton.
Triple Pane
Triple pane glazing units will outperform double pane units, and are becoming the standard for new construction in the north east. Our standard triple pane unit is argon filled, with low-e coating, with a 12mm to 14mm warm edge spacer. We can achieve passive house thermal performance levels with triple pane glazing units.
Double Pane
Double pane glazing is best suited for areas where weather conditions don't change dramatically and where the energy code is not stringent.
Sound Attenuation Laminates
We have a selection of laminates that can improve the STC and OITC of your unit when installed properly. These laminates have helped us achieve STC of 46db, and OITC of 37db.
Solar Heat Gain Coefficient (SHGC) and Low Emission Coating (Low E)
We understand that SHGC requirements are especially important in Passive and Net Zero construction; therefore, we are able to alter those values through Low E coating. These can dramatically alter the SHGC and can be different from unit to unit.
Hurricane Impact Glass
Bildau & Bussmann windows and doors have gone through the Miami-Dade Hurricane Window Code. We are able to provide windows up to 90"x120" in Fixed, Tilt & Turn, and French windows, as well as Lift and Slide, French and Entry Doors. Please be advised that some operations have sizing limitations.
Privacy Treatments
Different privacy treatments can be provided upon request. The most popular choice is frosted glass. In order to achieve it, Saint-Gobain chemically treats the center glass pane to give it an opaque appearance. We also offer DecoGlass patterns upon request.
All of the options below are special order and have long lead times. They are just examples of what is possible.
